It isn’t everyday that you encounter a one-of-its kind range of
products that will make you want for more. In the midst of monogrammed bags and
satchels, the hand-painted totes of H.E.A.R.T. effortlessly
stand out. Each collection never fails to capture the fancy of people who want
to arm themselves with distinct yet dainty pieces.
Other than bags, H.E.A.R.T. also offers tees, pouches, and even writing accessories. Where else can you get items priced below P300 (7 USD) that radiate every ounce of imagination?
My first encounter with H.E.A.R.T. was a year
ago when I was searching for a carryall to house my ballet shoes. Abbey Sy, the
brand’s owner and creator, really showed cheerful willingness to do my request.
She came up with this lovely design:
Surely I’m not the only one who finds delight
in the products because H.E.A.R.T. already earned spots in Philippine Daily
Inquirer’s Lifestyle section and
1. Can you tell us the
origin of H.E.A.R.T.?
Well it started off as a little concept I
decided to build up with. I originally wanted to design notebooks but I
couldn't find a good publisher/printer and also, I wasn't equipped with good
design skills so I decided to explore hand painted tote bags since they are
eco-friendly and the idea of having it hand painted made it more personalized
for every customer. Originally though I only painted one for a gift to my
friend, but eventually I thought of making a business from there because I
wanted to do something productive in my college life.
2. Where do you get
the inspiration to create your hand painted stuff?
Mostly nature, girly and dainty things. My collections
vary in theme but in general they are all based on my interests and all of them
are representatives of who I am and what I like doing.
3. Of all the collections of H.E.A.R.T., which one is your favorite?
Someday in Summertime (Collection 3). I also
like the Noteworthy Collections because I get to add a new line of products to
my shop.
4. Any tips for students or other busy persons who want to have an entrepreneurship venture through their creativity?
Learn how to manage time well and make sure to
be committed to what you're doing. Always remember that hard work and
perseverance, in time, will pay off. And keep doing what you love most! :)
5. Where do you see
H.E.A.R.T. three years from now?
Maybe I'll be selling a wider range of
products (not just hand painted stuff) like stationery and other novelty items
that I'll be designing *hopefully*!
Abbey’s passion is the
reason why her products sell out in a flash and if you want to carry something
that’s produced in a single quantity, mark your calendars for the release of H.E.A.R.T.’s “Back to School” collection this Saturday! I’m not a schoolgirl
anymore but the designs are too nice to shrug off! :>
