Dream-sprinkled Cupcakes

What’s more heartwarming than spending a Saturday with your face smeared with flour and your hands spattered with icing while kids excitedly recount their dreams?

U! Happy Events gathered volunteers last weekend for “Bake Date” - a culinary experience spent with kids from SOS Children’s Village. In our group, we encouraged our partner kids to do the pastry prettifying. While our cupcakes seem to be messy, I cannot forget how much fun the kids had by merely swishing and swooshing the frostings. No rules. No pressure. Simply enjoyment.

The rest of the morning was devoted to games, dances, and magic.

Meet my kid partner for the day. I already miss how affectionate he is – how he loves to hold hands with me and sit on my lap even if the floor is spacious. After eating his pasta and the icing remains, he let out a stifled yawn and said, “Patulog ako saglit dito ate, ha?”

Regardless of their stories, these kids truly deserve to be in a place that nurtures them. You too can put a smile on their faces. Whether you want to be an Ate/Kuya for a day or you want to directly send assistance to SOS Philippines, your deed will certainly go a long way.
